Is PlayStation Network down right now?Live checks and problem reportsChecking

When PlayStation Network (PSN) has problems, you might not be able to sign in, join parties, play online, buy from PlayStation Store or download updates. Your console may show "Can't connect to the server" or a sign-in error.

PSN outages are fairly common during big game launches and maintenance. Check that first, then work through the fixes.

Is PSN down?

See our PlayStation Network status page. If lots of people are reporting sign-in or online problems right now, wait for Sony to fix it; changing settings won't help.

Fixes on PS5 and PS4

  1. Test your connection. On PS5: Settings, Network, Connection Status, Test Internet Connection. On PS4: Settings, Network, Test Internet Connection. This tells you whether the console can reach the internet and PSN.
  2. Fully restart the console (not Rest Mode), then restart your router.
  3. Use a wired connection if you can, or move the router closer.
  4. Sign out and back in to your PlayStation account.
  5. Install the latest system software; some online features stop working on older versions.
  6. Try public DNS. In the console's network settings, set up the connection manually and use 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8.

Game crashed with CE-34878-0?

CE-34878-0 means a game or app crashed. It isn't a PSN outage. Update the game and system software, restart the console, and if it keeps happening, delete and reinstall the game.

Questions

How do I know if PSN is down?

Check a live status page with user reports. If many players report problems at the same time and your connection test passes, PSN is having an outage.

Why can't I sign in to PlayStation Network?

PSN may be down or in maintenance, your internet connection may be failing, or your console needs a system update. Run the connection test to narrow it down.
