- If you see a rate limit or capacity message, wait a few minutes. These limits reset over time and aren't a full outage.
- Refresh the page or reopen the app to clear a stuck response, then resend your last message.
- Disable browser extensions such as ad blockers and VPNs, which can break ChatGPT's streaming responses.
- Check whether your plan's usage limit has been reached in your ChatGPT account settings.
- Try the ChatGPT mobile app or another browser to tell an account problem from a device problem.

If our check fails, or reports have jumped in the last hour, ChatGPT is probably having a wider outage.
Why does this page say ChatGPT is up when it isn't working for me?
Our check confirms that chatgpt.com is reachable and responding. An outage can still affect only part of ChatGPT, such as logging in, the mobile app or a single feature, or only some regions. That's why visitor reports matter: when many people report problems at once, we flag ChatGPT as having problems even if the website loads.
