Roblox shows a numbered error code when you're disconnected from or can't join an experience. Some codes mean Roblox itself is having problems, others point to your connection or the game you're joining.
Find your code below. If several codes appear for lots of people at once, check our Roblox status page; it's probably an outage.
Codes that often mean Roblox is down
- Error 529: "We are experiencing technical difficulties". Roblox's servers can't handle the request. Almost always an outage or maintenance; wait and try again.
- Error 610: unable to join the game instance. Often appears during outages; also try logging out and back in.
- Error 524: not authorised to join. Can be caused by a private server or game settings, but appears widely during outages.
- Error 517: the game is currently unavailable, often because its server is shutting down. Try another server or wait.
Connection errors
- Error 277: "Lost connection to the game server". Your connection dropped or the server crashed. Restart your router, switch to a wired connection, and close downloads or streams.
- Error 279: "Failed to connect to the game (ID = 17)". Something blocked the connection. Allow Roblox through your firewall and antivirus, turn off your VPN, and try another network.
- Error 403: an error during authentication. Log out and back in, turn off your VPN, and clear Roblox's cache (on Windows, delete the contents of
%localappdata%\Roblox\logsand%temp%\Roblox).
Kicks and teleport errors
- Error 267: you were kicked by the game, usually by its owner, moderators or anti-cheat scripts.
- Error 268: kicked for "unexpected client behaviour". Remove any third-party tools or exploits and reinstall Roblox.
- Error 273: disconnected because the same account joined from another device. Change your password if it wasn't you.
- Error 773: teleport failed because the destination place is restricted or private.
General fixes that solve most errors
- Check whether Roblox is down.
- Restart Roblox and your device.
- Restart your router, or try mobile data.
- Turn off VPNs and ad blockers.
- Update Roblox, or reinstall it.
