What to do if Steam is not working
- Check whether Steam is in scheduled maintenance. Many games take servers down for updates, often on weekday mornings.
- Fully restart the game and the launcher or console, not just the match.
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if you can. Wi-Fi often causes lag and disconnects that look like server problems.
- Install any pending game or system updates. Steam often blocks older versions from connecting.
- Verify or repair the game files in your launcher if the game crashes on start.
- If you're stuck in a login queue, leave it running. Re-joining usually sends you to the back of the queue.

Is Steam down for everyone, or just me?
Look at the status at the top of this page. We connect to store.steampowered.com directly from our servers, so if our check works but Steam doesn't work for you, the problem is more likely your device, network or account. If our check fails, or reports have jumped in the last hour, Steam is probably having a wider outage.
Why does this page say Steam is up when it isn't working for me?
Our check confirms that store.steampowered.com is reachable and responding. An outage can still affect only part of Steam, such as logging in, the mobile app or a single feature, or only some regions. That's why visitor reports matter: when many people report problems at once, we flag Steam as having problems even if the website loads.
How often do you check Steam?
We check Steam automatically every 5 minutes, and again whenever someone opens this page and our last check is more than a few minutes old.
