What to do if Minecraft is not working
- Check whether Minecraft is in scheduled maintenance. Many games take servers down for updates, often on weekday mornings.
- Fully restart the game and the launcher or console, not just the match.
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if you can. Wi-Fi often causes lag and disconnects that look like server problems.
- Install any pending game or system updates. Minecraft often blocks older versions from connecting.
- Verify or repair the game files in your launcher if the game crashes on start.
- If you're stuck in a login queue, leave it running. Re-joining usually sends you to the back of the queue.
Minecraft outage FAQ
Is Minecraft down for everyone, or just me?
Look at the report chart on this page. If lots of people have reported Minecraft problems in the last hour, it's probably a wider outage. If reports are at normal levels, the problem is more likely your device, network or account.
Why does this page say Minecraft is up when it isn't working for me?
We show Minecraft as up while visitor reports are at normal levels. An outage can start with only a few people noticing, so if Minecraft isn't working for you, report it on this page. Every report helps other people see the problem sooner.
How often do you check Minecraft?
We can't check minecraft.net directly because it blocks automated requests. Instead, the status comes from visitor reports: when many people report problems at once, we flag Minecraft as having problems.
How do I report a Minecraft outage?
Use "Report a problem" on this page to tell us what isn't working. Reports are anonymous: we don't store your IP address, only a one-way code that stops the same person reporting many times, plus your country.
